The State of Play
Power gathers where meaning is held early.
The world rarely announces when it changes. Since social media reached billions around 2013, states, alliances, companies, newsrooms and armed movements speak to the same publics at once. Moscow runs information as a function of the state, Washington announces truces on the president’s own platform, and in Brussels thirty-two allies still decide by consensus while crises move in days. In Gaza, a UN agency and an armed movement carry daily life side by side. Each reads the same events from where it stands.
DURCHD8 follows these actors one at a time, from their own documents, figures and decisions. Where the record ends, assumption begins. The work lies between the two: to make visible what is there without inventing what is not, and to say what remains open. The Atlas shows who acts, and where each one stands.
Contexts
Contexts group actors of one kind: states and alliances, universities and institutes, companies and newsrooms, civil groups and armed movements. Each gathers the dossiers and studies in which that kind of actor carries weight.
Dossiers
Each dossier follows one actor: its current state with a date, the mechanism behind it, what is at stake, and the studies that test the reading.
